Coming into effect on 31 march, 2003 the mandatory vehicle branding programme is aimed at making the roads of the province safer.the process of branding is a process of tagging the vehicles according to the damage done to them in the past. The brand which is assigned to the vehicle is then added to the ministry of transportation vehicle registration system.

The four brand types that are present are :Irreparable, Salvage, Rebuilt, None.

This would then be submitted to the transportation ministry.
